zSpace: "Virtual-Holographic," direct interaction, hands-on display

Infinite Z's zSpace interactive, virtual-holographic platform was a co-development between myself and Mike Vesely. We conceptualized and designed the product (hardware, software, and user interface) and developed the business strategy that raised the company $60 million in seed/VC funding to date.

What you don't see here is how the images actually project out of the display (a la Princess Leia), so that the user can directly interact with them. This is one of those things that you need to experience to truly understand...
CAD/Sales Example

Although the Infinite Z technology delivers the highest quality"traditional" 3D on a vertical display, it is even more compelling to experience direct interaction on the horizontal (table-top) display. It's as if the object were real.

In fact, when conducting tests at Infinite Z where we asked people to distinguish between a real building block, and it's virtual twin, they were unable to tell the difference.

In this example, the designer, or perhaps a potential customer, uses the tool to touch the top of the car, sliding the roof over to better examine the interior. The tool-tip has pixel perfect accuracy, so that the user keeps tight control over what s/he is manipulating.
Game Example

This early prototype shows how two displays, one vertical and one horizontal, greatly expand the virtual theater, bringing the action right into your space.

Newer versions of the display have joined the two displays seamlessly.
